Curriculum

At our child care program, play is more than just fun—

it’s the foundation for how children learn, grow, and thrive.

What is play-based learning?
Play-based learning is an approach to education where children explore, experiment, and make sense of the world through play. Rather than relying on rigid instruction, teachers thoughtfully design environments and experiences that spark curiosity, creativity, and discovery. Through hands-on activities, imaginative scenarios, and social interaction, children naturally build essential skills while following their own interests.

Why play-based learning matters
Research consistently shows that young children learn best when they are actively engaged and emotionally invested. Play-based learning supports the whole child by:

  • Building cognitive skills: Problem-solving, critical thinking, and early literacy and math concepts develop organically during play.

  • Encouraging creativity and imagination: Open-ended play allows children to express ideas and think innovatively.

  • Strengthening social-emotional growth: Cooperative play teaches communication, empathy, and self-regulation.

  • Fostering independence and confidence: Children make choices, take risks, and learn from experience in a supportive environment.

  • Supporting physical development: Active play enhances coordination, strength, and overall health.

Inspiring a love of STEM through play
As part of our commitment to preparing children for the future, we intentionally incorporate STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) materials into our program. Children are encouraged to explore building blocks, magnets, simple machines, nature-based experiments, and age-appropriate technology tools.

Through guided play, children might design structures, test ideas, observe cause and effect, or ask questions about how things work—all while having fun. This early exposure helps nurture curiosity, resilience, and a lifelong interest in STEM learning.

At our program, every moment of play is an opportunity to learn. By combining a nurturing environment with purposeful, play-based experiences and engaging STEM materials, we empower children to become confident, capable, and enthusiastic learners.

Learning Fun!
